A person has died after falling from a mountain bike in Woodhill Forest, near Muriwai this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 12:30pm on Monday.
A police spokesperson confirmed that despite medical assistance being provided, the rider died at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with the rider's family and friends at this difficult time."
Hato Hone St John sent an ambulance and a first response unit to the scene.
It's the second tragedy Muriwai first responders have had to deal with in as many days, after a person died and two others were injured when a ute rolled on the beach on Sunday afternoon.
The full circumstances of today's incident are being investigated by police and will form part of the coronial inquiries.
A post on the park's Facebook page said it would be closed until further notice due to "unforeseen circumstances".
