A person has been seriously injured after an assault at an Auckland McDonald's.
Police said officers are at premises in Stoddard Road, Wesley after receiving a report of a grievous assault shortly before 8pm.
A Newshub camera operator at the scene said there were people inside the restaurant at the time of the assault.
One person has been taken into custody and one other person has been transported to hospital with serious injuries, a police spokesperson said.
There will be a police presence in the area and cordons will be in place while an investigation into the attack takes place.
"Police wish to reassure the public that there is not thought to be any ongoing threat to public safety, this appears to be an isolated incident between two parties known to each other," the spokesperson said.
A McDonald's spokesperson said staff are assisting the police with their investigation.
