A pod of dolphins have delighted swimmers, jetskiers and kayakers when they played around near the shoreline at a popular Coromandel harbour on Monday morning.
Newshub was sent a series of videos of a pod of friendly dolphins playing with people in Tairua Harbour, about 30 minutes north of Whangamatā.
The person who sent the videos, who wished to remain anonymous, said there were about eight or nine dolphins that "played around for ages".
The video starts by showing two of the dolphins swimming between some of the swimmers before going under the water.
The fluke of one of the dolphins then launches out of the water before disappearing back under.
The next video shows at least four dolphins swimming between a group of swimmers, going in and out of the water as swimmers, kayakers and people on boogie boards watch on in awe.
The last video shows one of the dolphins diving into the water before swimming underneath a jet ski.
The video then pans and shows three dolphins swimming next to kids in the water before the dolphin that swam under the jet ski reappears with the other dolphins.
It's not the first time dolphins have been spotted near the shoreline this summer.
A large pod of bottlenose dolphins was spotted in Akaroa Harbour to the delight of swimmers and kayakers earlier this month.
