Two people have died in a crash south of Oamaru, Otago this morning.
Police said they were called to a two-vehicle crash involving a truck on Oamaru-Alma Road (State Highway 1) near Browns Road, Alma, Waitaki District at around 9am.
The Serious Crash Unit and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Team are investigating the crash.
A police spokesperson said the road is closed and will likely remain so for a few hours. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to expect delays.
