A 20-month-old child has died after being hit by a car on a driveway in Kaitāia.
The girl was flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Auckland's Starship Hospital from Kaitāia Hospital but died on Friday morning Detective Senior Sergeant Kevan Verry said in a statement.
"The child was flown to Auckland's Starship Hospital for specialist care, but sadly she succumbed to her injuries this morning," Verry said.
"Our thoughts are with the family of the child at this time."
The fatality is being investigated by police.
