Fire crews are responding to a vegetation fire "spreading quickly" in a Canterbury riverbed on Saturday.
The fire on the north side of the Waimakariri River at Diversion Road, Swannanoa was reported at 2:50pm on Saturday.
Fire and Emergency Assistant Commander Brian Keown said tankers and fire trucks were responding from local brigades including Kaiapoi, Swannanoa, West Melton, Pine Beach and Spencerville.
This latest blaze follows two fires across Canterbury on Friday, at Amberley and Loburn.
Some resources have been released from the Amberley fireground to support the response at Swannanoa.
Keown urged people to be "extremely careful" with anything that could spark a fire, as the heat and wind make it difficult for firefighters to bring vegetation fires under control.
