Two people are injured following a crash involving two trucks near Waihi.
Emergency services are responding to the crash on State Highway 2 which was reported to police just before 11am.
One truck, which is completely crumpled, can be seen lying on its side as Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) crews work to rescue a person from inside.
Several crew members can be seen using jaws of life to force open one of the truck's doors.
A logging truck, which was involved in the crash, has also been significantly damaged.
"One person is in a moderate to serious condition, and one person is in a moderate condition," a police spokesperson said.
Large pieces of debris from the truck can be seen covering the road, as long lines of traffic queue up behind the scene.
The road is blocked and diversions are in place as emergency crews remain at the scene.
Motorists in the area are advised to take the alternate route.
