Emergency services have swarmed to two Christchurch mosques after a threat was received over the phone.

Police said in a statement on Thursday officers responded to a phone threat made about "specific premises".

Officers have visited two mosques and haven't found anything of concern through their searches, police said.

"Responding staff have been stood down, however liaison staff are now working with the community to provide reassurance."
