Two people have been charged with the murder of Javon Aranui in Hastings.
Aranui, 24, was assaulted in December in the vicinity of Jellicoe and Hood St. He was flown to Wellington Hospital but died the next day.
A homicide investigation was subsequently launched and, more than two months later, his alleged killers, both 19 years old, were found.
"Both men reside in Hawke's Bay and are jointly charged with murder," police said of the 19-year-old pair.
"Our investigation team have been working tirelessly to get this result and I would like to thank the members of the public who have come forward and provided information to assist the investigation.
"The pair are due to appear in the Hastings District Court on Thursday, February 29," Det Snr Sgt Sally Patrick said.
