Heavy rain is on its way to parts of Aotearoa on Saturday and Sunday, according to forecasters.
Te Ratonga Tirorangi/MetService said several of its watches have been upgraded to warnings.
Heavy rain warnings (orange) have been issued for the Tararua Ranges, parts of Te Tai Poutini/West Coast, and also Te Rua a Moko/Fiordland.
Meanwhile, strong wind watches (yellow) have been issued for Waitaha/Canterbury High Country, Pōneke/Wellington, and south Wairarapa.
"Rain moves onto the North island overnight, though high accumulations are only expected in the Tararua Range where an orange warning is in place," said MetService.
It said areas with heavy rain on the way should be prepared for streams and rivers to rise quickly, while flooding and slips are also possible.
WEST COAST / TE TAI POUTINI
Westland District (the Ranges)
A heavy rain warning (orange) applies here on Saturday from 11am to 8pm.
Up to 90mm of rain is forecast, peaking at up to 30mm per hour this afternoon and evening, according to MetService.
Thunderstorms are likely, but the rain is predicted to ease from the south in the evening.
Buller District
A heavy rain warning (orange) applies on Saturday from 4pm to midnight.
Expect 60 to 80mm of rain, especially about the ranges, with up to 30mm per hour at peak intensity this evening.
Similar to Westland District, thunderstorms are possible.
Grey District
A heavy rain watch (yellow) applies here on Saturday from 3pm to 10pm.
"A period of heavy rain with possible thunderstorms, and amounts may approach warning criteria, especially about the ranges," said MetService.
FIORDLAND / TE RUA A MOKO
A heavy rain warning (orange) applies to Te Rua a Moko/Fiordland, from Doubtful Sound northwards on Saturday, from 9am to 3pm.
Up to 80mm of rain is forecast, peaking up to 30mm per hour this afternoon - again with possible thunderstorms.
TARARUA RANGES
And the final heavy rain warning (orange) applies to the Tararua Range on Saturday, from 10pm lasting until 10am on Sunday.
Up to 90mm of rain is forecast, with possible thunderstorms.
CANTERBURY / WAITAHA
A strong wind watch (yellow) applies to the region's High Country on Saturday, from 11am to 10pm (11 hours).
"Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places," MetService said.
Northwest winds here tend to be warm and dry, causing conditions perfect for fires, such as the recent one on the Port Hills.
However, the state of emergency in Ōtautahi/Christchurch and Waikirikiri/Selwyn District was lifted three days ago as fire crews successfully contained the Port Hills fire.
WELLINGTON / PŌNEKE
A strong wind watch (yellow) applies to Pōneke/Wellington city and Wairarapa from Greytown south, from 7pm on Saturday until 3am Sunday (8 hours).
Winds could approach gale force in exposed places, such as the Remutaka Hill Road.
