A man has been charged with murder after a person was stabbed to death in central Christchurch on Sunday evening.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Johnson said officers were called to a property on Hereford Street just after 10pm following reports of a man being stabbed.
Johnson confirmed a 22-year-old man died a short time later.
Police confirmed on Monday morning a 67-year-old man has now been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in Christchurch District Court this morning.
A Newshub reporter at the scene said about half a dozen police were across the road interviewing people at the Christchurch City Mission on Monday morning.
Forensics were also at the scene setting up a tent.
