Police are asking for help identifying a group who allegedly assaulted and seriously injured two people in Tauranga earlier this month.
"Police are working to identify the... group of people who we believe, alongside others, can assist our enquiries into an assault on The Strand, Sunday, March 3," a spokesperson said.
A CCTV image of the group allegedly behind the attack has been shared, alongside a statement appealing for information.
The statement said the offenders were not known to the victims and the attack appeared unprovoked.
CCTV footage has been reviewed and multiple investigations are underway to locate those involved, police said.
"An 18-year-old man has been apprehended and is facing charges of assault with intent to injure and is due to reappear in the Tauranga District Court on March 18."
Police said anyone who recognises the people in the CCTV image or who has other information should contact 105, quoting file number 240304/9616.
