Petrol prices have been slashed in Gore, with locals in line for cheap fuel until Friday.
Low-price operator, Waitomo, says its newest site in Southland is part of its continued expansion due to "overwhelming demand".
The Hamilton-based company says it wants more Kiwis to benefit from fairer fuel prices.
To celebrate the opening, Unleaded 91 is set at $2.62 a litre, Premium 95 is $2.77 a litre and Diesel is $1.919 a litre.
According to Gaspy as of 11am Wednesday, NPD Self Service had also dropped prices to $2.62 a litre for 91, while Gull was listed at $2.75 a litre.
It makes it one of the cheapest fuel offerings in New Zealand today. Gull in Wairoa is currently the cheapest, selling Unleaded 91 for $2.50 a litre according to Gaspy.
The newest pumps are located on Main Street, at the site owned by well-known locals Mel and Maree Gentle.
"We are particularly happy that the site will continue to sell fuel albeit in a different retail model," Mrs Gentle said. "We're thankful and appreciative for their generous donation to Gore Host Lions to help with continuing projects."
Waitomo Chief Executive Simon Parham has paid tribute to the Gentles.
"We're really stoked that Mel and Maree have chosen us to take over their business that they've loved for many years and to continue the legacy that Jimmy Curson started in 1956.
"We're a family business too and we want to do them proud."
The low prices will remain until midday Friday.
