Fire crews rush to put out bitumen truck on fire in East Tāmaki

Fire crews have rushed to put out a bitumen truck on fire in east Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland on Thursday evening.

A spokesperson from Fire and Emergency/Whakaratonga Iwi told Newshub crews were called to the blaze on Crooks Rd in East Tāmaki just after 6:30pm.

Five crews managed to extinguish the inferno an hour later, by about 7:30pm.

There are no road closures.

A camera operator at the scene said there were multiple loud explosions during the fire.
