Police Commissioner Andrew Coster has announced a specific unit to tackle gangs.
There's already a dedicated team in Auckland, set up under Operation Cobalt, which has been running since 2022.
Coster's announcement on Tuesday comes after a large gathering of gang members gathered on Monday for the funeral of the Ponsonby gunman.
