Nurses have declared a day of rallies across more than 20 locations in New Zealand on Thursday.
Members of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) will be holding the rallies as part of a National Day of Action 2024.
It comes just days after half the country's junior doctors walked off the job in what was a major 25-hour strike, stressing they are "understaffed, undervalued and underpaid."
The strike involved around 2500 doctors from 7am Tuesday to 8am Wednesday, ranging from those fresh out of medical school, to those about to become specialists.
On Thursday, NZNO announced they too are taking action after receiving information from Te Whatu Ora under the Official Information Act that reveals the extent of the country's staffing issues.
From aged care to mental health, nurses and health-care assistants are calling for safer staffing ratios ahead of the Government's Budget, to be delivered later this month.
