A popular boat engine is being recalled with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment warning the defect could cause "serious injury or death".
Certain Honda Outboard engines produced in 2021 are being recalled due to a mechanical defect in the ACG belt which could result in the belt coming off and getting tangled in the timing belt assembly which in turn could cause the engine to stop suddenly.
The recall notice warns there is a risk of "serious injury or death if the outboard engine stops and cannot be restarted".
Product Safety says anyone with a boat fitted with an affected frame serial number should immediately stop using their boat and contact their nearest Honda Marine dealer.
A full list of the affected serial numbers can be found here.
