Shots fired in Mt Roskill, Auckland before convoy of cars flees

Police are investigating a shooting incident in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill on Thursday night. 

Several 111 calls were received around 9:45pm with callers reporting the sound of gunshots on Ellis Avenue.

A police spokesperson said following the shots being fired, a convoy of vehicles fled the street. 

Footage taken by a Newshub camera operator shows several police officers, including detectives, scouring the scene and picking up bullet casings off the road. 

No one was found injured at the scene however police said a man turned up at Middlemore Hospital around 11:30pm with a gunshot wound. 

Investigations are ongoing to see if they are connected to the shooting in Mt Roskill. 

No properties or vehicles were damaged on the street.

The public can expect to see an increased police presence in Mt Roskill while inquiries are being conducted.
