Auckland train services are starting to resume following a track infrastructure issue at Middlemore on Wednesday morning.
Craig Inger, Auckland Transport's (AT) rail franchise manager, said the track issue happened about 7:30am.
"Though services have now started to resume, some delays and cancellations are still expected," he said in a statement.
At first, the issue affected the Eastern line only - but the other three (Western, Southern and Ōnehunga) were eventually suspended too.
"It was fixed by KiwiRail just before 10am, however... crews were displaced as a result of the disruption and their unionised staff are not working any altered plans outside of their master roster," said Inger.
He added unionised rail workers are continuing their industrial action, which began last week and is on top of the track issue.
They went on strike after a new collective agreement reached an impasse.
That meant Auckland One Rail couldn't provide train services until about 10:30am.
"Industrial action is ongoing and there may be some further cancellations throughout the afternoon and into the evening," Inger said.
"We appreciate this disruption is extremely frustrating for our customers and want a resolution to this industrial action as quickly as possible."
AT recommends people check Live Departures and Journey Planner on their website or app for up-to-date information on services running.
Earlier in the day, AT said train services in Tāmaki Makaurau were to be suspended until 2pm.
Auckland One Rail operates passenger rail services on behalf of AT.
