A car on fire in the middle of the Northwestern Motorway in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland is causing major delays for motorists on Wednesday.
Two left westbound lanes of SH16 after the St Lukes Rd exit are currently blocked, said Waka Kotahi/NZ Transport Agency in a post on X shortly after 2pm.
"Expect delays and pass with care," it said.
It's currently taking 20 minutes to drive from Newton to Point Chevalier, which is only a 5km drive.
In an update at 3pm, Waka Kotahi said the two left lanes "remain blocked" and urged drivers to pass with care.
