Cash, methamphetamine, guns, and ammo have been seized from a property in Ahuriri/Napier overnight following a police raid.
Officers and dog handlers went to a home in Onekawa to arrest a 19-year-old man just before 7pm Tuesday.
On arrival, they saw a gun through one of the property's windows.
Police then carried out a search warrant, finding a replica .22 calibre AK47, ammo, and a .22 calibre pistol. They also discovered 5.5kg of meth and cash.
Two men at the home, gang members aged 19 and 34, were arrested.
"This was exceptional work by the officers involved," said Detective Inspector Martin James.
He said they were just doing a "routine policing task".
"Their actions upon observing the firearm through the window has resulted in a big win for community safety in Hawke's Bay."
The 5.5kg meth seized equated to $2.2 million in retail value, said Det Insp James.
"If this had been sold to users within our community, it would have caused untold harm."
The pair are due to appear in Heretaunga/Hastings District Court on Wednesday, facing several charges related to drugs and firearms.
