Emergency services have swung into action in Te Araroa on the East Coast after flood waters hit a local motor camp.
Authorities were alerted just before 7am on Monday that a stream had burst its banks and flooded the campground, impacting a number of residents.
A local Civil Defence spokesperson told Newshub that floodwaters had since subsided and everyone was taken to safety, with a local marae open and offering support to anyone who needs it.
She said Civil Defence crews were prepared and aware the stream could be an issue, given damage suffered during Cyclone Gabrielle.
There was a heavy rain warning in place overnight, but no further concerning rainfall is forecast.
The spokesperson said it was an important reminder not to be complacent about heavy rain.
