A woman has been charged with murder after a man was fatally struck by a car in Auckland overnight.
Emergency services were called to Moire Rd in Massey at about 11:20pm Thursday after a report of a person struck by a vehicle. Despite efforts from first responders, the man sadly died at the scene.
A 40-year-old woman has been charged with murder and is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Friday.
Det Snr Sgt Nick Poland said the victim and the arrested woman were known to each other.
"As such, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter," he said.
"We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident."
Poland said the community can expect to see an increased police presence in the area and a scene guard will remain in place while the investigation is carried out.
"Police will endeavour to provide further details around the identity of the victim when we are in a position to do so."
