Multiple people have been injured after the car they were in rolled in Ōhaaki, between Taupō and Rotorua.
Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 5, between Dan Rd and Horouta Rd, about 4:15pm on Thursday.
"A vehicle carrying four occupants left the road and rolled," a police spokesperson told Newshub.
"Two people, in a serious condition, were transported to hospital by helicopter, while two other occupants are being treated for minor-to-moderate injuries."
The road is partially closed but police expect it should be cleared soon.
Police said they were still working to establish the cause of the crash.
