A person on a mobility scooter has died after being hit by a vehicle that then fled the scene.
Police said the collision on Peachgrove Road in Hamilton was reported at about 2.20pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was transported to Waikato Hospital where they died.
Police said they had subsequently found the vehicle involved and the driver was assisting officers with enquiries.
Part of the road was cordoned while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination, but had now re-opened, they said.
