Police are appealing for dashcam footage as they investigate what happened to missing 60-year-old man Ronny Okeke.

Okeke, from Auckland's Sandringham, hasn't been seen or heard from in 40 days, so police are now focusing on southern Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland and Waikato regions.

He was reported missing on May 3, six days after he was last spotted on CCTV cameras leaving New World Mt Roskill.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said police are keeping an open mind.

“This is still a missing person’s enquiry, but naturally we have serious concerns for Ronny given the length of time since he was last heard from."

Police have asked anyone with dashcam footage captured while driving between the Kaimai Range (Kaimai Summit Loop Track) and Ramarama (south Auckland) to come forward.

Det Insp Baldwin said they want to hear from anyone who drove in those areas between 10pm on April 27, and 7pm on April 28.

“We would also ask anyone who stopped at a lay-by between these locations with footage to contact us," he added.

He said police understand it's a broad request, but it's so police can figure out if it's relevant to their investigation.

Anyone with footage on the above dates within the areas mentioned can call police on 105, or go online here and quote file number 240501/3879. Alternatively, call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
