A 21-year-old man is facing court over his alleged involvement in a violent robbery in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland last month.
He allegedly was one of several people who took part in an aggravated robbery at a premises on Tōtara Ave, New Lynn, on May 5.
It was one of several assaults and robberies across the city's western suburbs in April and May. Today marks the tenth arrest connected to those.
Inspector Kelly Farrant said the violence shown in the robberies and assaults was "appalling".
"What we have seen is a small group of mostly young offenders that have committed a high level of harm," Insp Farrant said.
Officers found the 21-year-old while carrying out a search warrant at a New Lynn property this week.
"We want to reassure the community that Police are continuing to conduct reassurance patrols at transport hubs, as well as ongoing prevention work with partner agencies and schools," said Insp Farrant.
The man is due to appear in the Waitākere District Court on Friday.
A month ago, police said they would do patrols at west Auckland transport hubs amid the increase in assaults and thefts, to give "reassurance and visibility".
Insp Farrant said last month "a number of young people" were arrested in May for their alleged part in assaults and robberies in and around New Lynn Station and Henderson Station.
Police, along with Auckland Transport, Auckland One Rail, Auckland Council, Community Patrols New Zealand and Tāmaki Makaurau Safety Patrol had all helped with transport hub patrols.
