An attempted robbery in the Auckland suburb of Mt Albert on Saturday night has left one person critically injured.
Two men entered the Mt Albert Sports Bar on New North Rd at about 10:10pm intending to rob the premises, police said in a statement.
An altercation took place, during which three people were injured, one of whom is in a critical but stable condition.
A second person is in a moderate but stable condition.
The bar was also targeted in an armed robbery in September last year.
Police said a scene guard is in place and a scene examination will take place on Sunday.
"The investigation is in its early stages, and enquiries are ongoing to locate these offenders and hold them to account," police said.
"Anyone with information who we have not yet spoken to is urged to get in touch."
