Two men have been arrested in Murihiku/Southland on Thursday, in relation to a recent spike in rural thefts in the area.
Police carried out several search warrants at properties across the region, finding stolen items and vehicles, plus guns and cannabis plants.
“Putting a stop to this offending is a great result for our community, particularly our rural residents being targeted,” said Sergeant Chris Maguire.
The pair, aged 26 and 35, are set to appear at Invercargill District Court "in due course", he added.
They both face multiple charges, including "receiving property".
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old faces two additional charges of unlawful possession of firearms and cultivating cannabis.
