Two people have been rescued and one taken to hospital after their boat got into trouble off the coast of Dunedin on Tuesday morning.
Police told Newshub a rescue mission was launched after the vessel became stuck on Harington Point at 7:30am.
A helicopter was also dispatched to pick up those on board, the spokesperson said.
In an update, police said two people had been rescued and were back on the shore, while a third was transported to hospital.
Hato Hone St John told Newshub it responded with one helicopter, one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle.
"Two patients were assessed at the scene, with one transported to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter in a moderate condition, and the second assessed and treated at the scene," a spokesperson said.
Coastguard Dunedin were called to Harington Point at 7:30am but didn't have further details available.
