Kiwi track cyclist Holly Edmonston has avoided the final lap carnage of the scratch race - the opening event of the women's omnium event at the Tokyo Olympics.
Nine riders in total were wiped out, including medal favourite Laura Kenny from Great Britain, with Ednostin coming home ninth to take 24 points.
The Omnium includes four events across three hours and will conclude the track cycling programme of the Games.
It will also be the final medal handed out in Tokyo, with Edmonston well in the mix after the first event.
