The future direction of New Zealand's Defence Force will be revealed on Friday with the release of the Strategic Defence Policy Statement 2018.
Defence Minister Ron Mark says it will involve a lot of money.
"[It] outlines the rather complex and tense strategic environment that New Zealand finds itself in today," he told Newshub.
Mr Mark says it will reflect foreign policy and national security priorities.
"This will shape how our men and women of our defence force are deployed [and] the expectations that the Government places upon them," he said.
