Andrew Little has found his doppelgänger - a gay fitness model from the UK.
The Justice Minister responded on Friday to an image circulating on Twitter of a model who bears an uncanny resemblance to him. The model's identity is unknown.
Auckland Councillor Richard Hills retweeted the photo posted by online Gay Fitness UK magazine, with the caption, "A very merry Christmas to us from our ripped Minister of Justice".
The post includes hastags such as #hotgay, #gayfitness and #fitspo. The image was captioned, "A sweaty holiday workout."
The man in the photo resembles a younger Mr Little, who retweeted the image with the caption, "Going into 2019 like..." with an emoji of a muscly arm.
He added, "2018 bod: thank u, next".
"This is honestly the best political signoff to the year... maybe any year ever," Green MP Golriz Ghahraman responded on Twitter, while another called it "brilliant".
It's not the first time Mr Little's appearance has sparked conversation online.
In 2016, the artist behind a nude carpet portrait of John Key created a full-frontal rug version of the then-Labour leader. The dramatic piece, with a bold red background, showed a nude and well-defined Mr Little with his arms folded.
The Whanganui artist Mark Rayner drew attention to his works in June 2016, after a blue rendition of Prime Minister John Key went up for auction on Trade Me.
Attending an end-of-year function for TV3's The Nation in 2016, Mr Little posed with the hand-made carpet print and met its creator.
"There are some really well-educated guesses here. The only thing that's slightly wrong is the size of the arms," he told Rayner. "The proportions are right everywhere I look, apart from the arms."
The artist said he was inspired by "very unflattering" portraits of US President Donald Trump.
