Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is speaking to reporters following a meeting of New Zealand's COVID-19 Cabinet committee.
On Friday, Ardern said the committee had decided new border measures would be introduced, but didn't announce any at that time. The United States recently barred all travellers who have been to most European countries in the last 14-days.
"We have agreed there will be additional border measures. We will be reconvening throughout the weekend… to make further decisions," she said.
On Saturday, it was announced the Christchurch Remembrance Service wouldn't go ahead out of concern for possible transmission of the illness.
