The Epidemic Response Committee is hearing from economists amid the COVID-19 crisis, with Budget 2020 set to be unveiled on Thursday.
The committee will hear from economists Cameron Bagrie, Michael Reddell and Ian Harrison, as well as PwC New Zealand's Geof Nightingale and Rahui Papa from the National Iwi Chairs Forum.
Finance Minister Grant Roberson was supposed to appear before the committee but the chair Simon Bridges said he could not make it.
The Epidemic Response Committee is a group of 11 MPs, the majority of whom are in Opposition, who meet via videoconference with the purpose of holding the Government to account on its coronavirus response.
National leader Simon Bridges chairs the committee, and is joined by four other National MPs, three Labour MPs, one Green Party MP, one New Zealand First MP, and permanent member David Seymour, leader of the ACT Party.
