Have Your Say: Who won the TVNZ multi-party leaders debate?

  • 08/10/2020

Five leaders from minor parties took part in the lively TVNZ multi-party leaders on Thursday.

ACT's David Seymour, the Greens' James Shaw, NZ First's Winston Peters, the Māori Party's John Tamihere and Advance NZ's Jami-Lee Ross went face-to-face in the hour-long debate.

The debate covered a wide range of topics, including the COVID-19 recovery, which other parties the leaders would be willing to work with, whether New Zealand should become a republic and if there should be quotas for Māori and Pasifika students at medical schools.

There were also plenty of jabs thrown among the candidates, including accusations of some leaders being "out of date".
