A German magazine has lauded Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern as "the best politician in the world".
The January issue of View features Ardern on the cover and the story discusses the Government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, her upbringing, and what she has faced so far as Prime Minister.
"The best politician in the world," the cover says, next to a portrait of Ardern.
"She defeated coronavirus and masters every crisis - what we can learn from the New Zealander."
The nine-page story includes photos of her as a child and teenager, meeting Queen Elizabeth, and hugging a woman following the Christchurch shootings.
"Jacinda Ardern's rays light up international politics since she, in October 2017, came to power," the story says.
"The western world envies New Zealand."
Along with discussing her response to COVID-19, they also compared it to that of former US President Donald Trump.
"She takes the threat seriously, listens to the experts, and reacts immediately," it says.
It isn't the first time Ardern has graced the cover of a magazine. Last year, she featured on Time Magazine and gave a poignant interview marking almost one year on from the Christchurch shootings.
She has also received praise from US magazine The Atlantic for her response to COVID-19. The outlet said Ardern is "maybe the most effective leader on the planet" and is putting New Zealand "on track for success against coronavirus".
