Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield is leaving the role on Friday and spoke to AM on Thursday morning about his experience leading New Zealand's COVID-19 response.
AM asked what his biggest regret was during his time in the role, as well as whether he felt politicised standing next to the Prime Minister at daily press conferences.
Dr Bloomfield also faced burning questions over his birthday and his feelings towards journalists.
