Jacinda Ardern has received a myriad of birthday wishes from her Labour Party colleagues as she celebrates her day.
The Prime Minister turned 42 years old on Tuesday, and at a press conference in the morning was asked how she was celebrating.
"Isn't this a celebration?" she sarcastically said, gesturing at the assembled journalists.
Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson said he'd sent Ardern a text wishing her happy birthday, but admitted this "is not very memorable".
"But the caucus did give her a cake and sang her happy birthday. I didn't sing - that was my present."
Labour Minister and MP Carmel Sepuloni wished Ardern a happy birthday on Twitter.
"Happy birthday to the boss!" she wrote.
While Labour MP Anahila Kanongata'a-Suisuiki hoped Ardern used her birthday to "chillax".
"At the age of 42 the Prime Minister continues to serve Aotearoa New Zealand well. Thank you for reading and making sense of all the documents that come across your desk, and on your birthday, perhaps you may leave those documents for a while and just chillax," she wrote.
"Happy Birthday Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern! 'Ofa atu."
Labour MP Angie Warren-Clark thanked Ardern "for the many things you've said and done to serve and make us Kiwis proud", while Takanini MP Dr Anae Neru Leavasa said the Prime Minister's "humble and empathetic leadership" continues to inspire the Labour Party.
"Thank you for looking after our aiga of 5 million," Dr Leavasa added.
