The Māori Party will make a statement on Labour MP Meka Whaitiri, who it says will "cross the floor to Te Pāti Māori".
The party will make a statement at 10am on Wednesday morning from Waipatu marae in Hastings.
It comes after Te Ao Māori News reported on Tuesday evening that Whaitiri was set to jump ship from Labour to the Māori Party for the upcoming election.
Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said on Wednesday morning he hadn't spoken to Whaitiri since the last caucus meeting, which was three weeks ago, while Labour ministers and MPs appeared to be caught off guard by the news.
Watch the announcement below. It should begin at 10am.
