ANALYSIS: It is now nearly impossible to see a path to power for Labour.
The party has received just 26.5 percent of support in the latest Newshub-Reid Research poll.
The conversation is now morphing away from whether or not Labour can win the election into a question of just how badly the party may now lose by.
The National and ACT bloc has lost seats on this poll and now needs Winston Peters' New Zealand First.
That comes with very challenging and, according to the public, chaotic consequences of its own. Our poll shows 63 percent of people believe National-ACT-NZ First would be a chaotic Government.
But at least National's Christopher Luxon still has New Zealand First as an option on the table. Labour's Chris Hipkins has said no to that. He cannot phone a friend to get out of this.
This is an utterly devastating poll result for Labour. While the party's result hasn't moved much, it shows that while the vote is volatile everywhere else, people have started to solidify their verdict and they want Labour gone.
If this is Labour's result in just three weeks' time, the party risks losing major names.
Defence Minister Andrew Little, Speaker Adrian Rurawhe, Transport Minister David Parker, Māori Development Minister Willie Jackson, and Health Minister Dr Ayesha Verrall are all at risk of losing their seats.
If there are a couple of weird electorate wins or the party continues to drop another couple of points, the party gets dangerously close to losing Finance Minister Grant Robertson.
That would spell absolute carnage and political armageddon.
It's time Labour now turns its mind to saving the furniture.
