Labour Party MP Ginny Andersen and National Minister Erica Stanford have looked back at the past year of politics.
The pair, for the final time in 2023, appeared on AM's Friday political panel - where they were asked to name their political heroes of the year.
Andersen
"Love him or hate him, Winston [Peters] has bounced back so you've kind of got to give him credit for his ability to... rise up when no one thought he could again - I think he took everyone by surprise, maybe even including himself."
Stanford
"The winner has to, of course, be Christopher Luxon... from boardroom to Prime Minister in an extraordinarily short period of time and from Opposition to Prime Minister - and backbencher to Prime Minister.
"[It was] a huge turnaround for the National Party, huge turnaround for our caucus - he's done an amazing job so, of course, political winner of the year."
