Newshub understands that a fourth charge is going to be laid against Golriz Ghahraman, the Green MP who resigned in disgrace after shoplifting allegations were levied against her.
At this stage, it remains unclear what the fourth charge relates to.
Ghahraman was initially charged with stealing close to $10,000 worth of items from two different stores and was due to appear in Auckland District Court on Wednesday.
However, her court date has been adjourned until March 20 and Ghahraman's lawyer Annabel Cresswell told Stuff this was in light of police readying another charge.
Cresswell said police are also considering diversion.
This marks the second time Ghahraman's court date has been pushed back.
Court documents released to the media show the value of the goods Ghahraman allegedly stole in the first three charges.
She was accused of stealing $691 worth of clothing from Wellington's CRE8IVEWORX on October 22.
She is also charged with the theft of $2060 worth of goods from Scotties Boutique in Ponsonby on December 21 and another $7223 worth of goods two days later.
She is accused of stealing $9974 worth of items in total.
Such charges carry a maximum penalty of seven years in prison if convicted.
Ghahraman resigned from her role as an MP on January 16, citing mental health issues as a contributing stressor that led to her acting "completely out of character".
