David Seymour says protesters who heckled him at an event on Saturday "didn't do their cause any favours".
Video shared on TikTok shows protesters, with placards saying 'Save Gaza' and 'Stop Killing Children', as they interrupted the Minister of Regulation at a ribbon-cutting event for Hamilton's new FIFO Supermarket on Saturday.
The group, waving flags of Palestine, were chanting "Seymour, Seymour you can't hide, you're suppressing genocide" and "free, free Palestine". One man did so with a megaphone.
"I was honoured to be asked to open FIFO in Nawton, where locals have gone eight months without a supermarket. A handful of protesters with a megaphone tried to disrupt the event," Seymour told Newshub.
"They didn't do their cause any favours by bothering the families and business owners who had gathered to celebrate a community bouncing back from crime."
It comes after protesters also took similar action outside Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters' Auckland home.
A group of about 30 protesters waved placards and shouted demands through a megaphone for about five minutes on Saturday, then slipped away before police turned up, according to the NZ Herald.
