National Minister Andrew Bayly has raised over $30,000 skydiving for cancer.
His team in Parliament signed him up for the huge 16,000-foot jump as part of Jump For Cancer 2024.
"Against the best advice of my orthopaedic surgeon, I have been persuaded by my staffers at Parliament to let them toss their boss… Me… out of a plane. I am trying not to read too much into it," Bayly said.
As a former paratrooper, Bayly is no stranger to jumping out of planes.
"It's a while since I've done it, but I can't wait," he said before the jump.
The Cancer Society has partnered with skydiving companies across Aotearoa to offer free jumps for those who raise $1000 or more for people with cancer and programmes to help prevent cancer.
Speaking after the jump, Bayly said it was fantastic.
"It was amazing. The view up there, 16,000 feet, fantastic isn't it."
