79min - Canada push for another try and DTH Van Der Merwe knocks the ball on.

76min - Penalty goes against Canada, South Africa will kick for the corner - it's not out. 

73min - TRY - South Africa, 18-Frans Malherbe is the man who crosses, he's too big and too strong from close range. Kick is wide. South Africa 66 - 7 Canada. 

70min - South Africa roll out the changes as they look for another try!

66min - TRY - South Africa, lovely from South Africa they spin the ball left and it's Damian Willemse who finishes it off. Kick is good. South Africa 61 - 7 Canada. 

64min - Not a lot happening here! Both sides running then knocking it on, a little sloppy here in Kobe.

58min - Double knock on is the call and Canada have the scrum feed. 

55min - TRY - South Africa, the hooker gets the ball with a heap of work to do he beats three players before busting through to score. Schalk Brits with a cracker. Kick is good. South Africa 54 - 7 Canada

53min - Penalty won at the breakdown from South Africa and they will kick for the corner. 

50min - Another stunning play from South Africa, Damian de Allende puts a kick in behind and Warrick Gelant goes so close. Knock on is the call.

46min - TRY - Canada! Massive carry from Jeff Hassler off the lineout, then they throw it one to the right to Matt Heaton who scores. Kick is good. South Africa 47 - 7 Canada.

45min - Another penalty won from Canada, the South African players were laying all over the pill at the breakdown! They kick to the corner. 

44min - A turnover won by South Africa and they clear.

43min - Penalty won against South Africa and Canada kick for the corner. 

41min - Great work at the breakdown from Evan Olmstead and he wins the penalty.

33min - Penalty won by Canada for an offside and they will work the ball down field. 

32min - A lovely kick from Elton Jantjies, he works the ball in behind the defence. 

31min - Mistake from Canada as they finally get the ball it's a forward pass. 

30min - South Africa kick the ball out and Canada have a lineout 30m out. 

28min - TRY - South Africa, off the scrum, South Africa move the ball right and it's too easy! Six tries in 28 minutes, Warrick Gelant scores. Kick is good. South Africa 40 - 0 Canada.

26min - Another penalty goes against Canada, South Africa will take the scrum. 

24min - South Africa win a penalty and will kick for the corner, pure domination at the mo.

23min - Too long from Jantjies who kicks one in behind to give Canada a 22 drop out. 

21min - TRY - South Africa, wow, they really are rolling now! Elton Jantjies puts over a lovely cross field kick to Warrick Gelant who gathers the ball, he finds Damian de Allende who pops the ball to Reinach who has his third! Kick is good. South Africa 33 - 0 Canada.

18min - TRY - South Africa, Snyman makes another great run, bursting through two defenders, they recycle and it's Reinach again. Kick is good. South Africa 26 - 0 Canada.

17min - Massive scrum from South Africa and they kick to the corner. 

14min - The first mistake from the Boks, a knock on and Canada will have a rare chance to carry the ball.

13min - Dangerously close again for South Africa, Steyn puts a lovely kick in and Warrick Gelant nearly scores, but Andrew Coe stays composed and grounds the ball in goal. 

10min - TRY - South Africa, what a lovely try! to quote the commentator, he's more dangerous then climate change. Cobus Reinach uses his pace to make a break, he puts in a chip and gathers the bounce to score! Kick is good. South Africa 19 - 0 Canada. 

9min - Knock on called agaist Canada and South Africa have a scrum feed. 

8min - The Boks look right up for this here, Canada need to be very careful. 

6min - TRY - South Africa, the forwards link well and put Canada on the back foot before the Boks spin it wide to Sbu Nkosi who scores! Kick is wide. South Africa 12 - 0 Canada.

5min - South Africa are back on attack, just 20 metres out. 

2min - TRY - South Africa  RG Snyman makes a great break through a break, South Africa recycle and it's Damian de Allende who scores. Kick is good. South Africa 7 - 0 Canada.

Everything that has gone before has led to this… which is the final stepping stone towards Rugby World Cup playoffs.

Only two teams have booked their passage to the knockout stages and even they still don't know where they will land in the quarter-final bracket, so Week Four offers some tempting morsels for the rugby fan who still hasn't had enough.

Wales v Fiji

These two teams share World Cup history - Fiji has only once made the playoff rounds of the tournament and did so by beating Wales in pool play in 2007.

Can history repeat?

Wales have been steady through the opening three weeks, accounting for Australia and seemingly headed for the top of Pool D.

But Fiji have shown glimpses of their other-worldly skill and power, and still have a sniff of a quarter-final spot, if they can topple the recent world No.1 side (and Georgia shock the Wallabies).

That World Cup victory stands as their only success against the Welsh, although they drew their next encounter in Cardiff three years later and have finished within 10 points on five other occasions.

New Zealand v Italy

The Italians have never seriously challenged the All Blacks - the closest they've come in 14 previous encounters is 10 points and the average winning margin is 49 points.

Last time they met, New Zealand prevailed 66-3 in Rome, so realistically, anything but a comfortable win for the two-time defending champions would be totally unexpected.

But the All Blacks have virtually been on rugby vacation since dispatching South Africa in their opening game, taking an 11-day break from competition and then returning to play the two lowest-ranked teams in the draw.

They will need an emphatic performance against Italy to blow out the cobwebs before the knockout phases - and actually they still need a win just to reach that stage.

England v France

The English have had the best build-up towards the business end of the tournament, with their opponents gradually getting tougher through pool play.

They and France have both qualified for the next stage - it's just a matter of who tops the group and faces the easier path to the semis.

The double-edged sword of England's progression is that they - and France - now face five straight weeks of tier-one opposition, if they hope to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy.

The French have been typically enigmatic so far, barely surviving their last encounter against Tonga… which means they're due. 

History favours the English 58-40, with seven draws.

Namibia v Canada

TAB: Namibia $2.28, Canada $1.58

And while the big guns do battle for places in the quarter-final, those two aforementioned lowest-ranked teams will face off for the wooden spoon.

If your office sweepstake has a prize for the worst team at the World Cup (like ours), this game will likely decide that dubious honour.

Namibia (-141) enter the contest with the worst for/against differential in the tournament, with Canada (-104) the next worst.

The North Americans are ranked one spot higher in the world, have seven World Cup wins to their name, progressing to the 1991 quarter-finals, and have beaten the Africans in both previous meetings.

But frankly, Namibia have looked more enterprising at this tournament in quest of their first-ever win.

Japan v Scotland

Sunday, October 14
TAB: Japan $2.08, Scotland $1.69

We've waited for this clash all tournament, but certainly since the hosts upset Ireland on the second weekend to set up this mouthwatering showdown in the final pool game.

Pool A is up for grabs and victory here would see Japan unbeaten and progressing to their first-ever World Cup quarter-finals appearance.

A whole nation is aching for this result - perhaps the whole rugby world - so you have to feel for the Scots, who have stumbled through the draw as the poor cousins no-one wants to know at the family wedding.

They've won all seven previous encounters, including - notably - the last World Cup, where Japan upset South Africa, but still couldn't progress past pool play.

Will history repeat?
