Kia ora, good morning and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Rugby World Cup pool game between South Africa and Scotland at Marseille's Stade Velodrome.
The Springboks - defending world champions - enter this tournament off the back of a record triumph over the All Blacks at Twickenham two weeks ago, when they used their seven-man 'Bomb Squad' to full effect over their shorthanded opponents.
That performance showed they will not give up their crown without a struggle, elevating them to second on world rankings, behind pool rivals Ireland.
Meanwhile, the Scots have quietly risen to fifth, making this group the proverbial 'pool of death'. They have only beaten South African in five of 20 previous meetings and haven't tasted success in more than a decade.
The Springboks prevailed 30-15 in their most recent encounter at Murrayfield in November 2021.
Join us at 3:45am Monday for kickoff.
