How the rural community's movers and shakers spent summer

Like many New Zealanders, many of the country's farming leaders have been enjoying the hot summer, posting photos to social media.

Agriculture Minister Damien O'Connor has been on a motorbike road trip in the South Island, taking in the sights of the Great Coast Rd between Westport and Greymouth.

Federated Farmers president Katie Milne has been making the most of the scenery around her farm at Rotomanu on the West Coast.

The farm providing lots of options to cool down.

New Zealand special agricultural trade envoy Mike Pedeson, a former chair of NZ Beef and Lamb, enjoyed a classic kiwi barbeque, noting how lucky we are to have "the world's best NZ beef and lamb".

Meanwhile NIWA weather scientist Chris Brandolino took some time off studying the weather maps to experience the high temperatures for himself, joining thousands of New Zealanders who hit the beach this summer.
