Police think rural property targeted by armed men

Police investigating an aggravated robbery in rural Bay of Plenty believe the offenders targeted the property.

Police were called to a Reporoa rural property in the early hours of Monday morning after a report a man had been hit across the body with a baseball bat and threatened with a firearm by three men.

Detective Chris Nairn said firearms were among items taken.

"Firearms, ammunition, and electronic items including mobile phones were stolen from the property, before the offenders left in a vehicle," he said.

He said initial indications suggest the property may have been targeted.

Police are keen to hear from anyone with information from the public.

"If you are aware of who may be involved, or have any information which may be useful to police, please call Rotorua Police on (07) 349 9400."

The victim sustained a minor injury which did not require medical attention.
