A search to find the most popular names for New Zealand farm dogs has revealed some common and not-so-common names for the trusty farm workers.
Thousands of farmers have been sharing the names of their dogs in the Federated Farmers-run competition to find the top 10 working dog names.
Leading the pack for the most common is Jack, Blue, Max, Duke and Dash, while more classic dog names included Tess, Jett, Smoke, Jake, Jed and Blaze.
However some farmers have opted for more unusual names of Piglet, Faberge, Ralphred and Fish.
One even going so far as to name a dog Please, to work with the common farming command "get in behind".
The search for the most popular working dog names follows a similar competition which was for the best photo of a farm cat.
The winner was Rebecca Sullivan, from Fairlie, and her photo of Simon the cat helping with the sheep.
Federated Farmers said a final count-up of the most popular farm dog names and the prize-giving would be held later this month.
